Leadership Council Applauds Historic Appointment of Willie Phillips as FERC Chair
(Washington) – The Natural Allies Leadership Council, including former Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA), former Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH), former Congressman Kendrick Meek (D-FL) and former Mayor Michael Nutter (D-Philadelphia), issued the following statement regarding the appointment of Willie L. Phillips as Chair of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC):
“We want to congratulate Willie Phillips on his well-deserved and historic appointment by President Biden to serve as the Chair of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Chairman Phillips is an experienced attorney and regulator who understands we need a balanced approach to our energy challenges, including climate mitigation, prioritizing the safety and reliability of our energy systems, and providing affordability for ratepayers. Natural gas working with renewables, including the necessary infrastructure, is a key part of that equation. Additionally, he has prioritized public engagement during his time at FERC, in pursuit of the Commission’s important mission. We look forward to Chairman Phillips’ leadership in the years ahead.”
