Natural Allies Statement on the Halting of Construction of Revolution Wind
(Washington, DC) – Former Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH), Rep. Kendrick Meek (D-FL) and Mayor Michael Nutter (D-Philadelphia), released the following statement regarding the cancellation of the Revolution Wind project off of Rhode Island:
“America needs more natural gas, needs more renewables, needs more nuclear – and no matter the fuel source all projects need certainty in permitting. Over the last decade federal and state regulators have delayed or denied permitted projects that had spent years in expert reviews. Doing so gets in the way of reliability, affordability, and emissions reductions. Once permitted, a project should remain permitted. Natural Allies has always called for a commonsense approach to building energy infrastructure including natural gas and renewables. However, creating more uncertainty around permitting will only scare away future energy investment, which is bad for every American.
“We need to get the politics out of energy so we can fix our supply and demand crisis to meet the AI challenge and stop rising power bills. We need to streamline the permitting process to approve and build needed infrastructure – renewables and natural gas, pipes and wires – faster. Commonsense energy policy begins with leaders in both parties willing to get back to building it all – as soon as possible.”
