Natural Allies Statement on New, Bipartisan Effort to Lower Energy Costs
Washington, D.C. — Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future National Leadership Council Co-Chair Terry McAuliffe, the former Governor of Virginia and former Democratic National Committee Chairman, issued the following statement about recent efforts by federal and state leaders to lower energy prices by allowing data center operators to cover their own power costs:
“Across the country, Americans demand this type of bipartisan cooperation between federal and state governments to lower electric bills and improve affordability for families in every community.
“Officials in the White House, and in Governor’s mansions across the country, should take heed and redouble their commitment to solutions that meet today’s surging energy demands and reduce costs by leveraging all available power sources – including natural gas, solar, wind, and nuclear energy – to expand our nation’s generation capacity.
“Democrats, in particular, must pay special attention to the importance of energy affordability, especially as voters head to the ballot box this year. By embracing an all-of-the-above energy approach and using every source of affordable and reliable power at our disposal, we can reduce utility bills, strengthen our economy, and win big in November.”
