Our Leadership Council Co-Chairs
Senator Mary Landrieu
Former Senator Landrieu (D-LA) served three terms in the U.S. Senate (1997-2015) where she chaired the prominent Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Senator Landrieu built a career on bipartisanship and solving problems, and advocating for her home state of Louisiana, America’s fourth largest energy producing state. In addition to her work with Natural Allies, Senator Landrieu Co-Chairs the Climate Solutions Foundation, which works with both parties to address the climate crisis.
Congressman Kendrick Meek
Former Congressman Meek (D-FL) served southern Florida in Congress from 2002 to 2010, where his open-minded and bipartisan outlook allowed him to navigate a broad cross-section of Washington to achieve results for his constituents. Congressman Meek served on the prestigious House Ways and Means and House Armed Services Committees. Meek was also the youngest Chairperson of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, where he was recently named Director Emeritus, one of only two former Members who has held this position. President Obama appointed Meek in 2011 as Special Representative to the United Nations.
Congressman Tim Ryan
Former Congressman Ryan (D-OH) has been a longtime advocate for working class families in northeastern Ohio, and joined Natural Allies after serving 10 terms in Congress (2003-2023) including on the prestigious House Appropriations Committee. During his career, Congressman Ryan was a stalwart leader in the fight to defend jobs, strengthen and modernize America’s manufacturing base, and reform U.S. trade policies. Long viewed as a commonsense voice in the Democratic Party, Ryan also recently joined as a Senior Visiting Fellow at Third Way, a center-left think tank.
Mayor Michael Nutter
Former Philadelphia Mayor Nutter served as Philadelphia’s 98th Mayor (2008-2016) leading his hometown through the Great Recession and the upgrade of the City’s credit rating to “A” by three major credit agencies for the first time since the 1970s. Nutter is a past President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the Pennsylvania Municipal League. He serves on the Advisory Board of the African American Mayors Association and the Board of the Urban Institute, among others. Nutter was appointed by the U.S. Treasury in 2022 to serve as Chair on the inaugural Formal Advisory Committee on Racial Equity.

Susan Waller
Susan has over 40 years of experience in the energy industry and is committed to informing decisionmakers and energy consumers on the complete story of natural gas, its infrastructure, and the integral role they play in accelerating America and the World to a clean energy future. Prior to joining Natural Allies, Susan was Enbridge’s vice president of stakeholder engagement and enterprise-wide public awareness programs. While at Enbridge and Spectra Energy, Susan championed successful stakeholder engagement for over 70 multi-million-dollar infrastructure capital expansion projects and directed investor recognized Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Sustainability Programs. Susan was recognized by the FERC as a distinguished industry leader for integrating stakeholder engagement and environmental justice practices into interstate pipeline and LNG expansion business plans.
