Natural Allies Statement on Virginia Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger’s Historic Win

Washington, D.C. — Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future co-chair and former U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) issued the following statement congratulating Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger on her victory in last week’s Virginia elections.

“Governor-elect Spanberger’s historic and decisive victory reflects a clear preference for leaders willing to offer real solutions to lower the cost of living for families in Virginia, especially electricity costs. Her understanding of the importance of natural gas working with renewables, including wind and solar, will serve as a foundation for Virginia’s continuing economic growth and keep utility prices affordable for businesses and families.

“In pre-election polling, 80 percent of likely voters said the price of electricity would be important to their vote and the election day results proved affordability is crucial. The Governor-elect now has a tremendous opportunity to advance pragmatic balanced energy policies for Virginia.
