Natural Allies Urges U.S. Senate to Pass Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026
(Washington, DC) — Natural Allies Executive Director Susan Waller released the following statement in response to Senate leaders releasing the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026:
Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future applauds U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito, Martin Heinrich, Mike Lee and Sheldon Whitehouse for introducing bipartisan permitting reform legislation that would help lower energy costs for American families and businesses and bolster U.S. competitiveness. We also recognize the critical role that Sen. Alan Armstrong played, drawing on his decades of experience as a leader in the energy industry, to help find common ground and bring the parties together.
Affordable, reliable energy is the foundation for prosperity. When permitting delays stall the infrastructure that delivers energy, consumers pay the price. If enacted, this bill will move projects forward more quickly and affordably, expand our energy supply and ease pressure on household bills. By enabling the responsible development of pipelines and transmission lines, the bill can help meet growing electricity demand and support a diverse energy mix that includes renewables and other advanced clean-energy systems, all while maintaining strong environmental standards.
The bill is the product of years of negotiations between both sides of the political spectrum and offers a generational opportunity to make energy more affordable, reduce emissions and unlock economic growth. Natural Allies urges the Senate to pass the bill when it returns to session and send it to the House as quickly as possible.
